___ Transnatural Label presents its art and design collection at Ventura Lambrate during the Salone del Mobile in Milan. The collection, which represents the symbioses between nature and technology, includes three new designs.
The Well proven stools series by designers Marjan van Aubel and James Shaw explore a new way to reuse waste timber, which can run up to 50 to 80% in regular production. These woodchips are mixed with a bioresin. This mixture expands to a light and strong foam. By combining these waste products, a new and durable material is created.
The Trap Light design (originally designed in 2012) features a new production of indoor and outdoor lamps in 2014. The lamps’ cages come in three colour variants: white, yellow and blue. The lamp’s glass is hand-blown and made by using the traditional Murano glass blowing technique. Within this technique the designers were able to embed photoluminescent pigments into the glass body of the lamp. These pigments trap light that is released as soon as it’s dark. The designers illustrate, that by taking a fresh approach to traditional production methods and existing materials, they can create an engaging, new lighting experience whilst making the most of energy.
In addition to these new designs, the large version of the Thermophores will be showcased. With its organic, vegetal semblance, the Thermophores continuously changes color on the surface through temperature fluctuations in space. When heated a few degrees more, a beautiful motion operates, changing the organism’s color. After cooling down, the Thermophores slowly returns to its original color. Such a dynamic process turns this artistic and conceptual approach into a magical outcome.
